Weekend Recap!
» By Marcus @ 12:00am on Tuesday 24/8/10
Just to recap what an epic weekend its been. It started off with a solid win by the Reserves to secure their first premiership in the club's history. So a big congratulations to all players involved through out the season and to Monko who been fantastic in rallying the troops to what can only be described as a phenomenal season. Not only have they won the league but they have on many occassions swept aside sides in style, scoring seven, eight or even nine goals. A truly remarkable year - that I'm sure we will not forget about.
Then came the OTGSC Poker Night at Casa de Pato, a fantastic night that saw people's fortunes change at the flip of a card. From five tables the competition was windled down to a final table consisting of BJ, Paul Louden, Matt Kepitis, Torin, Huynhie, Henschel, Stubbsie and the all three del Rios (aka the Spaghetti brothers). Hunyhie rode his luck the entire night to become joint champion with Paul Louden - who very geneoursly donated a portion of his prize money back to the club. Despite coming third BJ has a right to feel hard done by, when he had King Jack and was beaten by Huynhie who had 4 & 6 and hit the straight on the river. All in all, it was a great night and for those who helped on the BBQ (Law and Alper - aka Shelter, Camper, Santa's helper and Whisper) thank you but it wouldn't have been possible if it weren't for Drogbas (JDR and Smithy) - they did a great job putting this together. Another big thank you must go to Pato who kindly allowed the club to use his house as the venue!
Sunday was the last home game of the thirds, and they didn't disappoint with a great 2 - 2 draw which was full of drama and exciting passages of play. Let's hope the thirds can string together their third win of the season next week in the final game of the season!!
See below for a description about the GIFT Classic.
Thanks to everyone who helped out this weekend and hopefully everyone had a blast!
