OTGSC 2012 - New Coaches, Pre-season dates
» By Kerr @ 8:15pm on Thursday 5/1/12
It is with great pleasure that the OTGSC committee is able to announce the appointment of new seniors and reserves coaches for season 2012.
Paul Psathas has joined us as the new Seniors coach as he looks to build on around 7 years experience coaching senior football in Victoria. He is not long out of the game himself, playing for the best part of a decade at state league level in Victoria before moving into coaching. Paul left us with a strong impression that the club would be in good hands - specifically with his passion for the game and strong work-ethic, both of which were evident immediately.
Peter Kurg will also be joining the OTGSC as the head coach of the reserves. An old boy of the school, Peter has experience coaching senior football in both outdoor and futsal formats, and has most recently spent a lot of time in community and youth coaching programs (mostly programs he himself has initiated). Peter is a student of Spanish football and a passionate Barca fan (he's also head of the Barca Melbourne supporters club) and we look forward to having him work with our talented reserves side in bringing his tranquill football approach to OTGSC.
A huge thankyou to the coaches stepping down - BJ will be focussing on playing this year as hes not yet ready to hang up the boots, whilst Monko has landed a new gig as a full-time teacher which will place a greater demand on his time. Both lads will be down at the club in 2012 and we look forward to them remaining a big part of the Yellow Submarine going forward.
PRE SEASON:
Pre-season will be starting 2 weeks from today on Thursday January 19th at 7pm. At this stage we plan to hold a short training session followed by a barbeque to kick off the year. Pending any issues with availability, this session and those that follow will be held at Bulleen. Pre-season will consist of Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm sharp as per normal, with Each saturday of February and March also slated for practice games.
As usual all new-comers are welcome and we encourage all members from 2011 or seasons passed to bring down any interested mates. Here's to a massive 2012, see you all on the 19th.
